على الرغم من نفي قوات الدعم السريع في السودان، تواجد أي من عناصر فاغنر العسكرية الروسية في السودان، شددت الولايات المتحدة على ضرورة منع تلك المجموعة الروسية التي يتزعمها يفغين بريغوزين، من زعزعة استقرار السودان
وأعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأميركية أن مسؤولة بالوزارة بحثت مع قائد الجيش الوطني الليبي خليفة حفتر ضرورة منع الجهات الخارجية، ومن بينها مجموعة “فاغنر” من زعزعة استقرار ليبيا أو جيرانها بمن فيهم السودان.
مخاوف من تواجد فاغنر في السودان
كما ذكرت الخارجية في بيان اليوم الخميس، أن مساعدة الوزير لشؤون الشرق الأدنى باربرا ليف ناقشت أيضا في اتصال هاتفي مع وزيرة الخارجية بحكومة الوحدة الليبية نجلاء المنقوش تأثير أعمال العنف في السودان على أمن المنطقة.
وأوضح مكتب شؤون الشرق الأدنى بوزارة الخارجية على تويتر أن الولايات المتحدة تدعم بقوة الجهود الرامية لإنهاء العنف في السودان والحيلولة دون انتشاره في المنطقة.
فاغنر تنفي
وكانت “فاغنر” نفت، الأسبوع الماضي، تورطها في ما يجري بين الجيش والدعم السريع في السودان، مؤكدة ألا علاقة لها بالمعارك التي تدور في الدولة الإفريقية.
كما أكدت أنها لم تجر اتصالات منذ فترة طويلة برئيس مجلس السيادة، وقائد الجيش السوداني عبد الفتاح البرهان أو نائبه قائد قوات الدعم السريع، محمد حمدان دقلو، حميدتي، اللذين تتصارع قواتهما منذ 15 أبريل الماضي.
وذكرت أن الشركات المرتبطة ببريغوجين، ليس لها مصالح مالية في السودان،معتبرة أن الصراع الجاري شأن داخلي بحت.
في حين أكد دبلوماسيون غربيون بالخرطوم في مارس/آذار 2022، أن فاغنر متورطة في مشاريع عدة لاستخراج الذهب إلى جانب أنشطة أخرى، وهو ما نفاه السودان لاحقاً.
يذكر أن العديد من المراقبين الدوليين، فضلا عن الأمم المتحدة، كانوا أبدوا خشيتهم خلال الفترة الماضية من توسع الصراع العنيف الذي اندلع بين القوتين السودانيتين الكبيرتين قبل 13 يوماً، وتمدده إلى دول الجوار.
Although the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan denied the presence of any of the Russian military elements of Wagner in Sudan, the United States stressed the need to prevent that Russian group, led by Yevgen Prigozhin, from destabilizing Sudan.
And the US State Department announced that an official in the ministry discussed with the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, the need to prevent external parties, including the Wagner Group, from destabilizing Libya or its neighbors, including Sudan.
Fears of Wagner’s presence in Sudan
The Foreign Ministry also stated in a statement today, Thursday, that the Assistant Minister for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, also discussed, in a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Libyan unity government, Najla al-Mangoush, the impact of violence in Sudan on the security of the region.
The State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs said on Twitter that the United States strongly supports efforts to end violence in Sudan and prevent it from spreading to the region.
Wagner denies
Last week, Wagner denied its involvement in what is happening between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, stressing that it has nothing to do with the battles taking place in the African country.
She also confirmed that she had not had contacts for a long time with the head of the Sovereignty Council, the commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, or his deputy, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, Hamidti, whose forces have been fighting each other since April 15.
She stated that the companies linked to Prigozhin have no financial interests in Sudan, considering that the ongoing conflict is a purely internal matter.
While Western diplomats in Khartoum confirmed in March 2022 that Wagner was involved in several projects to extract gold, in addition to other activities, which Sudan later denied.
It is noteworthy that many international observers, as well as the United Nations, had expressed their fear during the last period of the expansion of the violent conflict that broke out between the two major Sudanese forces 13 days ago, and its expansion to neighboring countries.
